The Renditions Interview Featuring - Greg Favata - lead guitar and vocals Kristi Alsip - lead and harmony vocals Jerry Soukal - guitar and vocals Neal Carpenter - bass guitar and vocals Gary Greenman - Keyboards Do you fondly remember the summer and sand harmonies of the Beach Boys, the East Coast bravado of the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons or the screams and excitement of the British Invasion? If you do, The Renditions are the musical group for you. Whether it's an up-tempo rocker from Elvis Presley, a slow, romantic ballad from Patsy Cline or a great tune you'll never forget from a 60's one-hit wonder-The Renditions play 'em all! The Renditions are a dynamic group of six veteran Chicago musicians who create an authentic sound reminiscent of the 50's, 60's and 70's. What's the recipe? They start with 4-part vocal harmony, add ringing guitars, a splash of swirling keyboards and a thumping backbeat served up with loads of energy, but the most important ingredient is the music itself. They take pride in playing the greatest songs ever written in Rock 'n Roll's Classic Era and sharing them with you! That's all for the cut and paste job. I want to tell You about the very first time, I had the pleasure and honor to see The Renditions. It was at The Taste of Westmont. My Mom and Myself came their to hear "The Ides of March" A Legendary Chicago Rock Band with members originally form Berwyn, Illinois. But, We always catch the band before the main event. You know, what the heck, since the line for Uncle Bub's was just way too long. I was simply shocked at the energy oozing from the stage. It was just like the movie "The Blob". The blob came over You ad consumed or ate You, I don't know. But the energy that this band puts out is simply awesome. Awesome with a capital A. Personally, I was feeling kinda blue that day and after The Renditions played, I thought to Myself "Hey The World doesn't suck after all". The Renditions really can capture the good time music from the 50's, 60's and 70's. I won't go into My feelings on the name "Oldies Band". I love these types of bands that are referred to as Oldies bands, simply love 'em. But I am not too crazy about the name "Oldies Band". Seriously these Renditions rock, literally. I was impressed by the fact five out of six members of the group, were able to join Me at The Library. So I hope to feature The Renditions on The TV Show as well, so We all can see them in action. Having a female vocalist (Kristi) allows The Renditions to expand their range. Kristi pays tribute to many Girl Groups of the 50's and 60's. Their music set list includes a wide variety of music, beach music, Beatles, Elvis, Chicago Bands, just about anything and everything You can think of and some songs You can't. Greg had pointed out to Me in this interview, that they like to mix it up a little. They like to play songs You may not have heard for a while. And Yes, for all those wondering; this is a band, I will actually dance in My seat to. And if men in white coats do not escort Me to a little white mini-van. I will continue to enjoy the music. The Renditions are one of many groups of musicians who provide quality entertainment to The Chicagoland area. They are all professionals and support one another. All these bands are not, I repeat not, in direct competition of each other. There are plenty of summer concerts and venues to go around. But all these bands develop their own sound and own following. The Renditions are good friends with The StingRays and I am good friends with both of em'. So Chicagoland area is very rich with music and fun, fun, fun, until Her Daddy takes Her T-Bird Way. (Sorry, You have to allow just one of those lines) Please check out The Renditions website at http://www.therenditionsband.com They, I have to say, have one of the better websites I have seen in a long time. It rocks. Again, The Renditions are available to perform at Your Wedding, Birthday Party, etc. So if You want the blob of energy, and excitement ad fun coming Your way please, contact Them and get them at Your next Pig Roast. |
